Going beyond the stats
At Talent RISE our mission is to help young people facing barriers to employment into meaningful work. We’ve all seen the stats about youth unemployment, but these young people are more than just a number.
On September 3, 2021, Talent’s global workforce came together to offer free career guidance to young people struggling to find work for our first annual RISE Day. We spoke to young people in need to understand the barriers they were facing, offer support, and provide advice to help them take that first step towards the career of their dreams.
What you will see in this report are our findings from over 450 meaningful conversations that took place on RISE Day. The calls provided a powerful snapshot into the real state of youth unemployment, the challenges that young people are still facing, and what you can do to make a difference.
Behind the figures
- 457 conversations with young people
- 26% have spent more than 12 months job searching
- 25.3% noted COVID-19 as a barrier
- 87% are interested in reskilling into the tech industry
- 85% said mentoring or job coaching was what they most needed help with
- 67.9% said little to no work experience was a barrier for them
